andrew, the actor person

in a little over a month this guy is coming home. andrew, the 4th of 5 kiddos in our family is an act-tor in newyawkcity. NEWYORKCITY? (like the pace picante sauce commercial).

i'm a little embarrassed to admit that i used to be mean to this kid brother-o-mine. i think he was the recipient of the nastiness spewed forth because he was the only one younger than me (until a few years later when #5 came 'round) in a couple acre diameter. i remember one day i decided being mean isn't really fun for him or me. and then, it wasn't so bad having him around.

and now i want him around.

junkin monday II

i'm cheating. i'm just going to throw that out there right away. i did no thrifting nor vintage shopping this weekend. none. i know. i'm hanging my head really low right now...

but. look. pretties {above}. see? that better? i framed this {vintage print} in a {vintage/worn} frame today. it's funny how needing to do other tasks helps along these sorts of to-do's. that print is part of a collection i stumbled upon at a church garage sale this past summer.
i {fill in the blank} spaced/forgot about/didn't know about the church garage sale going on just down the street from my home. until. the. last. hour. bad because i could have taken home so.much.more if i went earlier. very good because it was happy hour: fill a bag for $1. i left with 7 bags. and then, on a second thought, i went back and got 2 more bags. this collection was part of the second thought. i know. God was smiling on little ol me.
look at that lovely lady. sister corita. a catholic nun. and an artist. amazing artist. included, the book above (right).
isn't that just a great photo of her. love the concentration. and with a camera. the whole image is wonderful.
in the book, lots of reading, but also, samples of her work. i love this type of typography art. always have. can you get better than making letters, words, phrases the art? really? can you? i challenge anyone to try to change my mind on that.
and lookie there. there's my framed art one. still love it.
and just like any great infomercial: but wait, there's more!
a whole lot....whole lot of prints. yes, friends, a whole lot of sister corita's work. i think i will probably frame a couple more before all is said and done. and, i'll share some with you on here as well. i'd say be jealous, but i am quite sure sister corita wouldn't like that, so i will say, enjoy.
and for more enjoyment, go check out junkin monday here!

the list of craig

i just posted these two nifty nuggets on craigslist. but, hey, if one of you keen readers would fancy one of them, drop me a line.
i'm not asking a whole lot for either of them. it's more about making room. getting rid. cleansing. organizing. shedding.

need a funky gift for someone?
your kids need a desk to play school?
need more info, want-one-need-one-gotta-have one?
talk to me.

well, it seems

our living room is taking shape. the most current shape, circle...specifically, polka dots...even more specifically, on a lamp shade. and it is most divine. piece by piece we are figuring out our style. the lamp, it came from brent's grandma home. and brent's mom cleaned it for us. all while i sat on the couch and worked on a word search (guilt abounds, but those searches are addicting).
i'm lovin me some polka dots right now.

cherry, cherry sunday.

i have had 2 boxes of cherry gelatin laying on my kitchen counter for about 3 weeks. i have all the supplies pretty much ready to make another batch of tomato jelly like the one shown above. but. i. just. can't. get. it. done.

last weekend i geared up to make the batch. i was ready, really, i was. mentally, and i had allotted the time in my saturday to make jelly (it really has become all about planning and allotting hours and minutes). but see, well, i couldn't find the recipe. i know. (you: what kind of betty crocker wannabe are you?) i have two canning books and i am quite sure it was in there. but it's not. so, i googled it. found one (depression jelly is the name, simple is the game). but by then, well, post office...et cetera...nebraska football. you see where this is going.

so the boxes of cherry gelatin sit, another week.

my point: i think today might be the day.

but i have family and engagement photos to edit too. but the boxes. on. the counter. driving...me...crrr...a...zzzzyyyy.

*update: done.

running together

the brilliant moon set off in the east. illuminating the highway to home. rising too quickly, moonlighting, the evening shift. or maybe, perhaps, it was the sun, heading back to work, the sun already clocked in for the day.
