et cetera colors

this store. sakes alive, i love this store. how well it's organized. the location. (for you out of towners, it's located in seward, nebraska, on the north east corner of the downtown square) the cleanliness of the items and the store itself. the prices (although they have gone up). the unpredictability of what you find. and the predictability of what you can find. the fact that they have a restroom that can be used. the friendly volunteers that give their time. the free box. the $1 rack of clothing. the half price basement sales every so often.
and. the color of the week. every friday morning, there is a new colored dot on the door. this dot means savings. 50% off every item with that color on the price tag. i believe, it's on a set cycle. and i am going to monitor it. for my sake, and yours, i will learn the cycle and therefore determine if we can risk it and play the waiting game until your (my) items color is indeed the color of the week. (this is one of the warped ways i want to organize and simplify my life, ie, be in control...and i am going to embrace it)

If I lived in Nebraska, I'd be a permanent fixture in this shop! I could dig through bins for hours AND get a sale? I'm there.

Hey - I was in there today! I bought an old pair of ice skates ($3.50) and an old globe ($6.00) that's more than I've spent on just two items in there in ages!

buggers! a globe! just goes to show you need to go in there e.v.e.r.y.d.a.y.

Ha! Buggers?! Is that word on your favorite word list? If it isn't--it should be--how fun!

Yes, we have a place like this, too...Monticello Antique Market. 100 dealers, consignment, upholstery service, entire room of vintage/antique yard and garden goodies, cafe with everything homemade, espresso bar...it's divine.

Check out their 2007 archives for photos of their Christmas show...I went, it was too cool for yule.

Happy Hunting!!

That place is so wonderful and soothing to go into that I've considered the benefits of moving closer to Seward....just so I could go to Et Cetera frequently. It casts a magical spell.

I did get to check your store out yesterday. I had 15 minutes and resisted many temptations except for 3 yards of BE-utiful green fabric for my table at the Art Festival!! WooHoo!
